Etching Identity: 100 Years of Women in Print

  • New Zealand Portrait Gallery Te Pūkenga Whakaata Shed 11, 60 Lady Elizabeth Lane Wellington New Zealand (map)

Presenting an exhibition of portraiture prints, Etching Identity: 100 Years of New Zealand Women in Print intends to pay tribute to Aotearoa New Zealand's women printmakers. The exhibition explores the art form as expression of identity, gender ideals, and the experience of womanhood, within the context of Aotearoa. From early 1920's printmaking through to contemporary times, the exhibition offers a timeline of these printmakers, many of whom have been at the forefront of the printmaking scene and changed the way this art form is viewed in Aotearoa and internationally.
