The New Zealand Portrait Gallery Te Pūkenga Whakaata gives us perspectives on ourselves and our place in the world and tells the stories of New Zealanders through the art of portraiture.

Our small team welcomes applications for vacancies from passionate individuals who are willing to pitch in wherever they are needed.

Liz Stringer Curatorial Internship

Liz Stringer Curatorial internship offers graduates and aspiring curators the chance to:

  • develop hands-on curatorial, collection and project management skills

  • curate one to two shows featuring works from the New Zealand Portrait Gallery Collection, gaining experience in exhibition production, research, artwork selection, interpretation and public programme development

  • develop skills and experience across the wide range of activities that take place in a busy public art gallery

  • contribute new perspectives, connections and appreciation of portraiture to the Gallery

The Internship is part-time and is supported by a stipend generously donated by Liz Stringer.
